How I built two Bots to make life easier with zero code

In a world where everyone’s talking about AI agents and automation, I wanted to get my hands dirty and solve real problems. Nothing fancy, just helpful tools that save time and reduce friction.

Here’s how I built two simple, no-code bots using Botpress, one of my go-to tools for creating conversational agents powered by keyword recognition, AI workflows, and good old “if-this-then-that” logic.

🧠 Use Case 1: The Startup Search Assistant

The company I work for has a private “advisor club” that offers high-value services, including access to a curated startup database across multiple verticals.

Here’s the issue: we didn’t want to give direct access to the entire database for confidentiality reasons. So when advisors submitted requests, we’d open up Excel, apply filters based on their interest, and return a custom shortlist of startups.

That worked… but it was manual, slow, and not scalable.

The solution? A bot embedded directly in Notion.

Using Botpress, I created a chatbot that allows advisors to type a simple query (e.g., “early-stage startups in sustainability”), which is then parsed, matched against keyword metadata, and returns a list of 10 relevant startups.

No more Excel filters. No more waiting. Just value on-demand, plus a better user experience in the space they already use.

🧾 Use Case 2: The Document Retriever

A friend of mine works in consulting for public administration and had a recurring productivity killer: whenever a client asked for a specific template, he had to pause what he was doing, dig through his Drive folders, and send over the file.

It wasn’t a hard task, but it was frequent, repetitive, and totally interruptive.

So we set up a simple system: renamed all his templates consistently, organized them in Google Drive, and connected it to a Botpress agent. Now, his clients can interact with the bot, type what they need, and instantly receive the link to the right file.

Bonus: the bot also reads the content of the documents to make sure the output is contextually relevant.

✨ Why This Matters

These are not mind-blowing bots. They don’t write code or solve the climate crisis.

But they solve real pain points. They create leverage.

And they showcase what anyone can do in 2025 with a bit of curiosity, the right tool, and a practical use case. You don’t need a PhD in ML. You just need a problem worth solving and the willingness to ship something useful.

If you build something cool, DM me. I’d love to see it.

Welcome to the future—one bot at a time.
